 Advisory Board Positions

What do we need?

We’re looking for 5-7 individuals operating on a voluntary basis, with a passion for supporting initiatives focused on safeguarding young people and awakening their potential. Every member plays a critical role in contributing to overall board responsibilities, highlighted within the following key areas of governance:

●      Mission: creating a clear, succinct mission statement that expresses The Safety Box ® CIC’s core values and revisit this mission on a regular basis, revising if necessary

●      Oversight: establishing appropriate regulatory checks and balances to ensure the organization is well managed and its mission is carried out

●      Resource development: working together to ensure The Safety Box ® CIC remains equipped by assisting with the relevant resources (financial, human, marketing, legal) needed to fulfil its mission

●      Outreach: connecting with the local and global community to promote The Safety Box ® CIC’s mission, values and programs (including the recruitment of new board members/volunteers/donors as and when needed, the expansion of the organization's network of supporters, and so on)  

●      Fundraising: providing fiduciary oversight by ensuring that there is an annual fundraising plan in place, and monitoring the results of the plan

 

Key responsibilities / tasks

●        Advance the organisation’s vision, mission, and roadmap

●        Provide expert industry knowledge, advice on key issues and improve blindspots

●        Fulfil organisational responsibilities, potentially including legal and fiduciary obligations

●        Assist with the organization's fundraising efforts:

○        Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors

○        Attend fundraising events

●        Advise on and approve organisational resources

 

 

Time commitments:

●        24 month engagement

●        Attend 4, or a maximum of 6 meetings per year (approx 2 hours per meeting)

 

Desirables:

●        Passion for community development

●        Passion for the rehabilitation of young people

●        Experience working within a corporate environment

●        Previous experience working in one or more of these sectors:

○        Board/Committee/Governance

○        Public Relations and Marketing

○        Financial Management

○        Legal/Justice (especially Youth Justice)

○        Charity, Voluntary and Social Enterprise

○        Fundraising

○        Strategy

 

 Training

There will be opportunities for training and gaining accreditations related to the enterprise.
